I paint in oils, acrylics & watercolour and also produce digital art based on my photographs and paintings. My work covers a range of subjects and styles from moderately traditional to purely abstract. I often find that a change of medium brings some new ideas, inspiration and a change of style, which is probably another way of saying I have a limited attention span.
The gallery pages should give you an idea of what I do.
For me painting is the business of turning a rather scary blank sheet of paper or canvas into a picture.
Sometimes I plan, make some preliminary sketches and test paintings before doing the final picture. But often I just have just have an outline idea of a picture in my mind and I just mix some colours and then kind of let the brush do what it wants. Sometimes the brush comes up with something I like, but at other times it fails miserably and so the work ends up in the bin, but it’s nice when it works.
